Panic attacks are frightening, almost impossible to describe. I know I have spent many sleepless nights avoiding the thought of having another one. The last one happened a couple of years ago and now when I see someone I always ask them to stay away from me. I have even been told by friends that I have bipolar disorder, which means I am extremely unstable.

What is alarming is that these episodes of overwhelming fear and anxiety are often happening all at once or within a short period of time and it can be difficult to determine when you are the next victim. And when you are a victim, there is not always a place for you to go to.

At times of greater stress or with other major life events, panic and anxiety attacks can occur. The problem is, many people are scared to have a panic attack because they feel it will scare them into thinking that something terrible is going to happen. It may seem as if you are at risk for an episode.

You don’t panic about riding in a car with a stranger. When you go through an episode, you may be quite aware of what is happening but you may have a hard time getting to your solution.

There are real symptoms of panic attacks and often they occur in both patients and the surrounding people. They are usually followed by an anxiety attack which occurs within minutes to hours later.

An anxiety attack is not the same as a panic attack. In fact, the exact difference is not known to scientists.

Sufferers of panic attacks are usually on edge, feeling dizzy, and having a racing heart. They may also feel sick, light-headed, and trembling. You may also feel the urge to vomit or be overcome with a sudden sense of nausea.

Now you may ask why this is a good idea. The reason is you do not want your panic attack to last so long that you may be afraid to live. That would only make matters worse.

The basic idea is to make sure that your fear of your upcoming panic attack does not linger and is removed in advance. That way you can give yourself the chance to prepare for it. If you never prepare for it, you will be much more likely to have a panic attack.

So let’s get down to the reality of what panic attacks are and how they are handled. In this instance, we are talking about you being scared of your next attack. You can understand it.

You should then plan out what you are going to do before the major life event comes up. Have a plan of action so that you can do what you need to do in advance so that you can better prepare for what you will be faced with.
